User Persona: Paxata User

About

Paxata connectivity to PowerBI Desktop works differently than the other documented Paxata Connectors. This Connector is built on the PowerBI Desktop Platform and is configured in PowerBI Desktop to reach out to Paxata.

For more information from Microsoft on PowerBI Desktop Data Sources, please see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-data-sources

To Configure

  1. Open PowerBI Desktop
  2. Select Get DataOtherPaxataConnect

    then
  3. If you receive a warning about "Connecting to a third-party service", click Continue.
  4. Enter the Paxata URL you log in at and click OK.
    1. This may be "https://yourdomain.paxata.com/domain/paxauth” if you’re on a Kubernetes based deployment, or “https://yourdomain.paxata.com/” if you’re on a non-Kubernetes based deployment.
    2. Don’t forget to add “https://” at the beginning
  5. Enter your Paxata REST API Token and click Connect.
    1. If you do not have a REST API Toke, this article will show you where to get one (look under item 7 - Tokens).
    2. Save this token, as it cannot be retrieved, only deleted and regenerated, if lost.
  6. It may take a minute or so for the authentication to process. Upon completion, you'll land on the screen where you can browse the Paxata Data Library for Data Files and AnswerSets to import.
